Supporting the Chapel Choir ensures any student involved in the Choir has the opportunity to develop their skills, further their experience and make the most of all opportunities regardless of their financial circumstances.

The University of Glasgow Chapel Choir provides music for services and other events in the chapel and elsewhere. It is a dedicated and highly active ensemble, representing the University at high-profile events in Scotland and beyond, and has won high praise from critics. They are often heard on Radio 4’s Daily Service and Sunday Worship.

The Choir has toured regularly for many years now, both within the UK and overseas. Past destinations include Germany, Sweden, the Baltic states, the USA and China, not only contributing to the visibility of Glasgow University but winning friends and maintaining links with alumni at home and abroad. Members of the Choir enjoy their role as ambassadors for the University and are always ready to chat with alumni and compare notes on their Glasgow experience. Tours are a special experience for the singers, who look back on these trips as among the highlights of their university careers. They also offer the Choir the chance of spending a longer time together, which for a group accustomed to a busy schedule and a high throughput of pieces, represents a valuable chance to bond socially and polish repertoire.

The difficult circumstances of the last few years have had their impact on touring, which is now a much more expensive activity than ever before. It is vitally important to keep costs as low as possible, but it is also a priority of Chaplaincy Music that the current cohort of students should still be able to have this special experience, and we are determined that anyone who wishes to join in our touring activity, is able to do so, no matter what their financial situation.
