Support our new home for the Institute of Health & Wellbeing. Be part of helping to prevent disease, improve health and reduce global inequalities.

Scotland has a high incidence of chronic disease, affecting quality of life. With the number of people living with chronic disease rising, it's predicted this will become the world’s biggest health problem. Your support will go towards research into preventing disease, looking at how to improve health and reduce global inequalities. You can be part of addressing solutions to an upcoming global health crisis.

“For the first time in decades we face the likelihood that children will live shorter lives than their parents due to the rise in obesity and type II diabetes. Health services cannot cope with the rising prevalence of chronic diseases. Prevention is the only option.” Professor Jill Pell, Director of the Institute of Health & Wellbeing.

Not everyone experiences the same opportunities to lead a long and healthy life. Despite improvements in life-expectancy, inequalities are widening.

In Glasgow, there is a 13-year difference in life expectancy for males between those living in the most and least deprived areas. Glasgow is truly the best place for this research, and as a city experiencing these issues, the work being done will directly impact those in the local area and around the world.

Your support will allow the Clarice Pears Building to house a multidisciplinary centre for health, producing world-leading research on health policy, practice and behaviours that will improve global health and reduce inequalities.

Support the Institute of Health and Wellbeing and help everyone have a healthier life.
